Cultural Day
It consists of a series of activities that promote reading and writing through the children's taste, interest, fun and participation. These are the Book Fair, participation of a storyteller, and Literary Matinées for Casa de los Niños, Workshop I and Workshop II.
For the Book Fair we invited some previously selected publishers based on the Montessori philosophy, where we even recommend a range of titles aimed at the different ages and needs of our students, and it takes place for two days within the auditorium of the school. Our goal is to bring children and their families closer to and fall in love with books, encouraging them to create their own libraries at home, at reasonable prices due to the discounts that publishers offer us on this day.
We make the visit of a professional storyteller coincide around these dates who, from his experience, encourages the encounter with books and their reading.
The parents of the participating students are invited to the Literary Matinées to attend to the reading of the creations made by them, from the youngest who in Casa de los Niños begin to write, to the oldest in the Workshop, who are already capable to elaborate complex stories and poetry. This activity and its participation is voluntary, and it is being worked on from the beginning of the school year, so that the children themselves choose what they want to present in front of their audience: the Dads, Moms, Guides, Teachers and Companions.
The compendium of the works is later published on the school page, where it remains as part of our library.
Customs and habits
Montessori schools are a reflection of the society in which we live, so in addition to the interaction of ages and the convergence of differences, we echo the uses, customs, traditions and celebrations that are part of the culture of our community.
Mexican party
It is the most important national holiday in our country, so on September 15 (or the one assigned by the school calendar), shortly before departure time, we invite all families to accompany us to parade around from school, and then give "the shout" (ceremony). Children and adults can come with typical costumes, flags and festive elements.
Day of the Dead
This celebration is the syncretism of pre-Hispanic customs with the current ones, where the reunion with loved ones who have already died is expected, through the elaboration of altars and offerings, whose elements symbolize the spiritual and worldly ties that we maintain with them.
Within the environments these offerings are built in collaboration with the students, and two are particularly in charge of the Parents Association, one for the Culiacán 83 headquarters and another for the Aguascalientes 190 headquarters.
December Bazaar
In the month of November our December bazaar is held, where students and parents participate to sell and buy seasonal items, food, drinks, crafts, clothes, gifts, etc., in order to promote coexistence and the work of children and adults.
Other
Pleasantly, and when circumstances arise, we are enriched by the cultural contribution of families that due to their origin and roots have other types of celebrations, which can be both religious and social, always within a framework of respect and acceptance.
Talent Show
As of 2004, a space was created for the participation of all MdlC students, with numbers where they can share their histrionic, artistic or martial skills, which can be from the execution of a musical instrument, declamation, singing, dance, choreography, a magic number, a mosaic of gymnastics, even the most creative show of which they are capable, under the organization and enthusiasm of the General Coordination. The Talent Show is scheduled a week before spring break, and the funds raised are donated in full to the San Cristobal Shelter, which shelters countless unowned dogs.
